in the swing

Well, it has been over a month since school started.  In fact, we're half way through the boys' first 9 weeks of this school year.  Their progress reports came home yesterday, and they are both doing well for the most part.  The first couple of weeks were a struggle for Alex.  It just took him a little while to get into the swing of first grade.  He had us worried at one point because he wasn't wanting to go to school.  He even said he was going to try to leave school one day and walk back home.  His father scared him to death about even trying to do that, and he hasn't mentioned it since.  I also emailed Alex's teacher about the issue, and she was very helpful and supportive.  These past couple of weeks he has done great!  He enjoys going to school and he is doing better at completing all of his class work.

Almost a month ago we split the boys up and gave them their own rooms.  Even though they still spend time together in one or the other's room, they are really enjoying having their own space.  And, I am enjoying not trying to cram two boys' clothes into one closet!

Isaac started his first season of Fall soccer the last Saturday in August.  He decided to switch to Fall soccer since he wants to play baseball in the Spring.  He is doing great as usual.  I love that he has found a sport that he really likes.  Now we just need to find one that Alex really likes.  I think he is a little sad that he's not getting to play soccer while his brother is.  But, we keep reminding him, he was supposed to be playing football, so it was his choice not to be playing a sport right now.  We're still not sure when we'll let him play another sport.

The last bit of fun news is that C got a new car.  Well, not brand new, but new to him.  Being the man he is, he kept his truck and has the Venza to drive when he's not working.  With the type of work he does, he is often pretty dirty at the end of the day, so his truck is now just a work truck.  Well, until he starts customizing it, but that won't be for a while! (I hope...)

It has taken us a few weeks, but we're finally in the full swing of things!
