Thankful

Almost four months have passed since my last post.  I guess I'm not really using this blog to document things as much now that I use Facebook and Instagram.  Alex turned 9 almost a month ago and Heidi turned 17 months a couple of days ago.  Alex just got glasses and is so proud of them.  Heidi is beginning to talk, so it is fun trying to figure out what she's saying.  Isaac is growing up so quickly; I don't really want to think about the fact that he will be 12 in a few short months.  He is almost through the 1st half of his 6th grade year.  Before I know it he'll be going on to high school.  Isaac is playing the trumpet in the school band, and he is really good.  I am not sure where his musical abilities come from, but it is so fun to listen to him play.  He has his first band concert next week, and I am really looking forward to it.

We had a nice Thanksgiving this year.  My parents and some of C's family came to our house to celebrate Thanksgiving.  This year I am thankful for so many things. I am thankful to have two parents who are still living.  They haven't been feeling the greatest lately, and it reminds me that they won't be around forever.  Thinking about that makes me sad, so I try not to think about it too much.  I am thankful for a strong marriage.  Sure, we argue and get snippy with each other (mostly me), but I am glad that we talk and work through whatever is bothering us.  I still tell myself what my daddy told me before I got married.  To make a marriage work, it takes two.  And he was right.  Also, I am thankful for three healthy children.  That is a huge blessing.  I am thankful for our home that we finally found.  We have been moved in for almost seven months now, and it really does feel like home.  I am excited to celebrate our first Christmas there.  I am thankful for the friendships in my life; the old ones that are always there, the ones that I've reconnected with and the new ones.  I am thankful for a good employer, but ready for a change.  So, I hope to find a new opportunity with my current company in the coming year.

I am looking forward to celebrating the holidays with family.  I hope that we can make it to see the Christmas lights as a family this year and maybe do some other fun holiday things as well.
